It has been reported that another parachutist has died as a result of a failed jump near the Baldwin Airport. A 29 year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene on Old Homestead Rd. on Saturday evening May 17 and tragically, another family must deal with the loss of a loved one.
I’m not quite sure what motivates a person to jump out of a perfectly good aeroplane but the number of accidents coming from this airport, I think, warrants an in-depth investigation by governing bodies. This is the second parachute accident resulting in death within 10 months and the sixth in the history of the airport–not to mention the number of accidents involving injuries. I would be interested to know how those statistics stack up compared to the safety records of other like-facilities.
